Members exhibition by 26 artists with the Casper Artists' Collective

Maria Cristina Mercado was born in Argentina and lives in Mexico, where she is a visual artist, educator, and manager of culture.

We use the elements and principles of art during our discussions. We share a passion for producing and exhibiting our work which includes a variety of subjects, media, and styles.

The Casper Photography Association is central Wyoming's premier organization for professional, amateur, hobbyist and beginning photographers using all types of cameras: digital, film, point and shoot and even cell phone cameras.

GROUNDED is an artistic exploration that brings together 15 premier and emerging contemporary artists from Indigenous American tribes traditionally based in and around the Great Plains region of the USA.

I began painting approximately six years ago and at first, the white canvas was an exciting but daunting sight. I now eagerly await the progression of each new painting as the canvas transforms and grows into something distinct and colorfully different than when I began.

My work straddles a line between abstraction and figuration, often working to layer the two modes together using personal identity and past events from my life. In this exhibition, the focus of that exploration in these artworks has been of the past decade. 

I love photographing macro and water, but my true love is photographing live shows. The energy and the thrill of being in the pit is so exciting.

Art is not perfect. No perfect lines or color combinations. I remind myself of this every time the paint comes flowing out of the can or off of the brush. It doesn’t have to make sense to everyone, but it always makes sense to the creator.
