The Corner Studio is an art class for women led by our Art Educator, Kim Breed. Classes will be the 2nd Thursday of every month from 5:30 – 7:30 PM.
Each month will have a teacher-led project, so there is no need to fear the blank canvas. There will also be room to be creative and explore if you are already comfortable creating. In other words, all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged! Just please, take the time to let go and create with us. It’s good for your soul!

Why I Created The Corner Studio
By: Kim Breed
A friend asked me not too long ago how I managed to make time for art. I’m a single mom with a young son, I have a full-time job, and I’m an artist. I thought about it. Really, my answer was I make time for art because I can’t function as a human without it. It’s a part of who I am. When I moved into my apartment, one of the first things I did was set up a small studio in the corner of my living room so I had a dedicated place to create. But, like a lot of moms, my friend’s time to create had gotten pushed aside in the constant barrage of work and raising babies. I firmly believe that art is for everyone. Period. I don’t care if you can’t draw, aren’t good at it, it just isn’t your thing, or whatever other excuse you can come up with. Art is what gives us a place to express ourselves. A chance to slow down. Time to process the craziness of this human experience. But really, it’s just plain fun! I am constantly inspired by my preschoolers. They love to create just for the simple fact that it brings them joy. It’s beautiful to them even if it looks like mud! We could all use more of that attitude! So my hope for this class is that it will be a sanctuary for art. It will become your “corner studio”, a place where you can sit down monthly, forget everything else, and simply make some art. Maybe make some new friends and get your drink on too! I hope to explore all mediums: paint, clay, collage, printmaking, fiber arts, etc. If you can think it, we can create it. Each month will have a teacher-led project so there is no need to fear the blank canvas! There will also be room to be creative and explore if you are already comfortable creating. In other words, all skill levels are welcomed and encouraged! Just please, take the time to let go and create with us. It’s good for your soul!
